Day 17: The Obsession with the Civil War Begins

With her high energy, Paige is a head banger through and through as it is the only music that keeps up to her horse racing thoughts.  But one day she was moved to play "Family Traditions" which led to "A Country Boy Can Survive" then it was "Redneck Piece of White Trash", and when "Southern Wind" came on she was entranced.

Paige, like others, grew up with the lie that the Civil War was about slavery, and the Rebel Flag is racist.  Usually, paige can hear voices that call her, but this reaching out was an obsession.  Her mind filled with visions of grey ghost floating on silver mist, but she did not understand until later.  Interesting that knowledge grows with passing time.

Something wasn't right.  Paige told, Danni, her soul sister, "i think that the Civil War is a load of shit like World War 2."

"I care not for war and hatred" replied Danni, "give me dancing and happiness."

"Well, You know me, it just feels like the Southerners are another set of the oppressor's victims," paige answered.

"You shall find out, i am sure, i believe in You," soothed Danni.

Obsession growing daily, this woman who once hid from the world when she was a girl began a search to unravel the puzzles of the Civil War as she had once done for World War 2.  One day paige downloaded the pics of Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E Lee as she was considering calling to their souls for help in comprehending this daunting task.  "Sis, will You please help me read these guys?" she asked Danni.

Danni got good vibes from Ulysses S.Grant and bad ones from Robert E. Lee; however, by this time paige was realizing that she and her sister do not see eye-to-eye on most subjects.  Paige gazed into the eyes of these two Generals from the old black and white photos in an attempt to read their energy, and she was most comfortable with General Lee, but still not positive because calling bad ghosts can make a lot of trouble for the Necromancer.  In actuality, it was a song that paige's mind for her.  "Sitting Up Drinking With Robert E. Lee" by Rebel Son.  She thought "Wow, if that guy can see General Lee, i bet i can too, and i bet that he's not like the man says."

Paige is a soul Childe of Baron Samedi and Maman Brigette, the gods of Death in the New Orleans Voodoo Pantheon, so she ask Him to bring General Lee and keep her safe just in case Danni was right.

Sure enough, it was not long before the General was in her dreams,  and they talked and he showed her much even if she cannot recall it in her conscious mind.  Night after night, the patient and kind Silver Man filled her dreams with searching and rewriting.  The way that her dream life and waking life coincided was an amazing thing.  It took many countless hours to pull her research together, but when she was done she was proud of her work.

Later, paige found an article that explains that obsession is a sign of possession, and she is easily possessed so it's probable that her obsession stemmed from the ghosties that keep her well guarded now.
